Catching Golf Carts, Not Feelings by Hollyn A., 14

One night, I was walking and chatting with my friends. Suddenly, I heard a counselor tell everyone to move because a golf cart was coming. As I was moving to let the golf cart pass, I realized that my good friend Nell was on the back. Nell had asked me to make some art for The WriCampian Diary a couple days prior and told me she’d share a document with all of the selected entries. However, it had been a few days since we talked and I wanted to confirm all of the logistics. I yelled out to Nell, clutched onto my backpack straps, and began chasing after the golf cart. Once I caught up, I began talking about the entries with her. When we reached an understanding, I stopped running, extremely out of breath. But it was worth it, because now I can make cool art for The WriCampian Diary 🙂 ✎

A Small, Secret Rebellion by Thúy H-V., age 16

Last night my bunk went to bed early so I went to sit in the bunk across the hall, whose light was still on. I sat on my friend’s bed and we talked until their counselor came in to tell everyone to go to bed. They stood in the doorway, counted everyone—including me—and didn’t notice I was in the wrong bunk. It was hilarious, and my friends and I spent the next half an hour telling scary stories in the dark and playing 20 questions. It was so fun to bond with my friends in that way, in secret rebellion against the rules. ✎

Barbershop by Tess B., age 14

Have you ever had a moment in your life where you think: “Wow, I really am a teenager,” or “I feel like a teenager in a movie”? Well I have. One of these moments was yesterday when some friends and I became bunk barbers! One of my friends brought haircutting tools and we were fixing up each other’s hair and bangs. It was super fun and I got to do a little part in my friend’s bangs. Yayayyaya. ✎

Make a Wish by Maya S., age 15

Last night (or really early this morning), a couple of our bunkmates and I woke up at about 2AM to catch a glimpse of the Perseid meteor shower, which happens annually around this time. I saw a meteor; I even made a wish. ✎

Sitting Under the Stars by Iris L., age 15

A few friends and I went stargazing after the dance on Thursday, laying out on our blankets under the stars near Well Beyond. We were able to see so many; it was so peaceful, unwinding after a long but exciting day. The stars were so much brighter than they are in the city. We also were able to see some faint traces of the Milky Way and pondered over philosophical meanings and theories of life. ✎

Meteor Shower by Kate S., age 16

Last night some friends and I got up late in the night to go outside into the grass to watch a meteor shower. It was cold and I was half asleep but it was so much fun to quietly look up at the sky, watching and waiting to see a shooting star. ✎
