Good News! A Compilation of Thrill from Fellow WriCampians by Sophie Katz, age 17

Start

Our feeds and ears have been constantly buzzing with unjust, infuriating, unpredictable, and shocking news. At any given moment, “the worst thing you could imagine happens,” as Senior Camper Lili S. puts it. To combat the disappointing and hopeless feelings that Writopians often face when they attempt to endure information about our complex world, this article compiled bouts of good news that your fellow campers had found or experienced.

The good news that inspired this idea? NBC and The Washington Post just reported that New York City is opening its first publicly-funded homeless shelter for transgender people, a first for the United States. As New York champions progressivism within our country, other campers described environmental revelations, new album releases, and tiny-but-mighty life updates.

Here were the bits of news that enthralled WriCampians:

“At first, I heard that fireflies were going extinct, but then I learned that they are just not as populated in certain places, that’s all.” – Sandy

“This isn’t news, but Tyler, the creator released a new album (don’t tap the glass) and it is a really great album.” – Anonymous

“Silksong has a release date, I got past my writers block, Joy and Relief as Lotus Flowers Bloom Again in Kashmiri Lake After Three Decades (Goodnewsnetwork.org)” – Hazel

“My Labubu comes in 30 days, my ex is still single and alone, and my parents are healthy” – Tess Berland

“20 days until I see MCR live!!!!!” – Reine

“The ozone layer is mending well and is stated to make a full recovery in the 2070s.” – Theo Scoblic

We hope this news helps bring hope to WriCampians! ✎
