Lip Sync for your Life! Lower & Middle Camp by Norah Schechter, age 12 & Yearly WriCampian Staff

Start

You could hear laughing, excitement, and friendly competition in the Field House on Sunday Night as Lower and Middle Camp got ready for the Camp Lip-Sync Battle. For those who participated, it was not just an opportunity to perform, but it was also it was a chance to create great memories with camp friends. Teamwork brought every bunk together.

The battle kicked off with the instructors’ great performance of “You Don’t Know You’re Beautiful.” Their enthusiastic performance had everyone singing along, engaging every camper and staff. We learned that the instructors have more talents than just reading stories: they were also great at dancing and lip syncing!

Next up was Bunk 19, this writer’s bunk, presenting their delightful performance of the theme song from “Sofia the First.” The campers turned the stage into a magical kingdom, using creativity and fun costumes.

Bunk 47 was next to the stage, and they sung Ariana Grande’s “Break Free.” They had great choreography and awesome energy.

Bunks 36 and 37 joined forces to perform “Your Idol” from “K-Pop Demon Hunters,” a song that a lot of the audience enjoyed. K-Pop Demon Hunters has been a camp favorite all summer, so it makes sense.

Bunk 18 wanted to support nature with their song on “Let it Grow” from the movie of Dr. Seuss’s The Lorax. Their performance was very bright, having themes of conserving trees and the environment. Their props and costumes were also great.

Bunk 16, just like WBY B, did a performance of “I Want It That Way”. It was great to see two hilarious performances in one day.

Bunk 15’s “There You Are” by Zayn had an emotional connection to the song. It was slow and meaningful, and it was clear how close all of the bunkmates were.

Finally, Bunk 45 finished the night with “What Is This Feeling” from Wicked. It was the a hilarious end to the night.

After the show ended, it was clear that every bunk brought their unique styles and personalities to the stage. The Lip-Sync Battle was not just about competition, but about celebrating the wonderful community at WriCampia. With many friendships strengthened and memories created, we can’t wait to see what next year’s Lip-Sync Battle holds! ✎
