A Summertime Sunset by Ayana A., age 14
After it rained on Saturday, my bunk and I walked over to the lake and watched the sunset. Hues of blue, yellow, and pinks overlapped and the lake was a stunning lilac. I wanted the magical moment to last forever, but of course, nothing does. It was so beautiful, and even the digital cameras my friends had couldn’t capture the gorgeousness of the moment. So, we captured it in our memory.

The Lizard by Rose N., age 11
A few of us from my workshop were walking to the forest hammocks to see if it would inspire us to write a poem, when one of our group members spotted something on the ground. It was a small gecko, barely the size of a pinky finger! She picked it up, and I named the lizard, now established a him, Gerald. She handed him to me, and although he was squirmy, and I knew I would have to wash my hands later, it was really fun to hold a rare-spotted living creature in my own hands. After we were done passing Gerald around, we put him back on a sun-warmed rock, but our day was considerably happier after that, and I will always remember Gerald.
Stargazing by Amelie W., age 13
The stars at WriCampia are so beautiful. I never see stars in the city, and WriCampia has reminded me how much I love them. It feels amazing to lie on the ground and look at the sky, feeling insignificant, but finally at peace. To some, the stars are only lights in the sky, but to me, they are an anchor that keeps me sane.

Bedtime Reading (for seventeen year olds) by Thúy H-V., age 17
Every night in my bunk, our counselor reads a little bit from their terrible romantasy novel to us before we go to bed. It’s really silly, but it’s also a weird moment of connection for us all. Shout out WBY B!!!! Especially Mahdia <3.
